As with all businesses, Longview have some basic terms of business that are designed to safeguard us and our clients, but that do not interfere with the creative process.

Ownership

The mechanical rights in all recordings made at or by Longview Studio will remain the sole property of Longview Studio until full payment is received in respect of all invoices relating to those recordings. Intelectual rights in the recorded material remains the sole property of the author/composer or their duly appointed representative(s). Clients of Longview Studio acknowledge that, in relation to the recording of other peoples work (covers) additional licences may be required before that material may be made available to the general public. This includes material that is placed on websites or offered 'free of charge'. It is the clients sole responsibility to secure those licenses.

Health & Safety

Longview Studio is situated in 12 acres of rugged farm land. While it may make for a pleasant break in the day to take a walk around the fields, these areas are not open to the general public and are therefore explored entirely at the clients risk. Longview Studio can not be held responsible for loss, damage or injury sustained to property or persons outside the studio building. Clients equipment and valuables left on the premises overnight are at the clients own risk, they are not covered by Longviews insurance.

Damages

In any working environment, things get worn out or broken in the normal day to day scheme of things. However, the client will be held liable for the full replacement/repair cost of any damage to the studio equipment or structure caused by willful or neglectful activity.

Payment

On daytime bookings we require 50% of the fee at or before the start of the first session and the balance on completion of the final session before masters/proofs are released. This payment should be in cash or via paypal.

Evening & Weekend bookings require a 50% deposit at time of booking (either via paypal or BACS transfer) with balance paid at or before the end of the final session.

Longview Studio prefer not to take cheques, by prior arrangement we will accept cheques, but these must clear to our account before payment is deemed to have been made.

Backups

As a matter of course, your sessions will be kept on archive servers for a minimum of 3 months after your project is completed. There is no additional charge for this.  We offer various methods of backup for client retention:

External Drives:  You may bring your own external usb or firewire hard drive and we will transfer your project files to it.  Depending on the size of the project this may take between 10 minutes and 1 hour and can occupy up to 80Gig of space. There is a one off charge of £20 for this service.

DVD ROM: Alternatively, we can back up your project to DVD @ £5 per disc.

Other backup/export options are available including Broadcast Wave, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis etc. We will be happy to quote for these options on request.
